    Works perfectly

I installed this following an upgrade to SSD on a mid 2010 21.5 iMac and I didn't want to rely on software to slow the fan down. The installation video was a great help and the installation took me (a novice) less the 20 minutes, start to finish. A great solution!

OWC Thermal Sensor for mid 2010 iMac

I don't usually leave reviews but I was so impressed with Flexx and this product that I thought I should in this instance, particularly as it might be helpful for other people who are in the position I was in. Following an installation of an SSD to give my ailing iMac a boost, the fans went wild. As I had installed a flavour of Linux I couldn't find a software solution (and I was concerned this could impact the longevity of the rest of the hardware anyway), therefore I had to buy this sensor. Flexx was the cheapest I could find and it was sent very quickly (only a couple of days and very safely packed). One thing to note is that while you can get away with just lifting the screen up for installing the SSD, you need to disconnect the ribbon cables to install the sensor properly. OWC have some helpful videos on YouTube to follow. The installation itself was a piece of cake and has been working beautifully.

OWC in-line digital thermal sensor for iMac 2009

It's hard to rate or comment on something that is hidden in the depths of the computer other than it seems to be doing its job and was relatively easy to install. I had several solutions to provide control for the cooling fans and while this was the most expensive choice, at least I had peace of mind that I had selected the best option. Delivery was very fast. So far so good.
